Most Important Contribution - Pray Each Day for St. Rose School
Join the families and school supporters who participate in the St. Rose School Prayer Circle. This informal group individually promises to pray each day, to offer some of their daily prayers or to attend Mass and receive the Eucharist or to spend time in Eucharistic adoration or praying the Rosary for the intentions of St. Rose School.
Volunteer of Your Time, Talent and Treasure
There are many volunteer positions open at St. Rose School. Volunteers serve as classroom aides, fundraising staff, library and P.E. aides, staff helpers with making copies and other administrative duties, landscaping and building maintenance. Join the honored ranks as a St. Rose School volunteer. 388-4393.
Contribute to the Wish List
Each year, our school develops a wish list of items or funds they need donations toward. You can contribute easily to these funds, directing your money to specific projects. Currently, we have specific funds and wish list needs for:
1) Computers, Library and Technology Fund – These funds are used to replace audio-video equipment, computers, new books, software and other equipment for the school and the school’s computer lab and library areas.
2) Professional Development Fund – St. Rose teachers typically pay for professional development workshops and in-service from their own pockets, but we have developed a special fund that contributes toward specific programs, speakers and workshop attendance for our teachers.
3) St. Rose School Prayer Garden – In the upcoming year, as our centennial draws near, St. Rose parents and supporters will be working to enhance school entrances, primarily developing a beautiful entrance with new plantings and statues that enhance the appearance of the school. We will also be establishing a new outdoor prayer garden between the two school buildings, that could include planters, some landscaping, statues and benches, to provide a reflective area for teachers, students and visitors to our campus. Ideas are still being developed.
4) Classroom Religious Enhancement/Buildings and Grounds Maintenance and Improvements – We are planning to add several beautiful statues, photos, plaques and portraits that will enhance the Catholic identity of our school and the reflective nature of walking through our beautiful school buildings. We also continue to need funds for maintenance and enhancements of the school facilities and grounds.
5) Safe and Secure – We continue to expand our “Safe and Secure” facilities at school, providing safety doors and other special equipment that ensures student and staff safety.
Please consider donations to these projects or other programs and projects of need. Contact Mr. Becker for more information. Many of the donations could be given as memorials, so consider honoring a loved one with a special gift that keeps giving to our future generations. Contact – 388-4393.
More Ways You Can --
“PITCH IN FOR ST. ROSE SCHOOL”
Leave a Legacy – Consider a gift or memorial contribution to our growing Legacy Drive, a school savings account that helps fill in the financial gaps each year, to fund the operational expenses of the school. The fund continues to grow toward our goal of $100,000. Contact School Boosters - 388-4798.
St. Rose Educational Endowment Fund – The educational endowment is an interest-bearing fund that provides annual interest only payments for school needs. The principal amount cannot be utilized. Contact Parish rectory – 388-4814
Tuition Assistance Fund - If there is a specific student who attends or will attend St. Rose School and you’d like to pay for all or part of that student’s tuition, Contact School office - 388-4393.
Adopt a Student - This program offers school supporters the opportunity to “adopt” an imaginary St. Rose student, to pay tuition and fees for one student, and to receive our school newsletter, Classy Info, and other school activity information, just like any other school parent. Contact School office - 388-4393.
Scholarships - Our school is able to offer several scholarships to individual students, whose names are drawn randomly from our enrollment list during Catholic Schools Week in January. Scholarships include:
St. Rose Guild Scholarship- Provided by St. Rose Guild
St. Rose School Students Scholarship – Provided by donations from St. Rose School 2nd grade students
Sister Charlotte Schuele Honorary Scholarship – Provided by donations in honor of Sister Charlotte Schuele, SSSF
School Sisters of St. Francis Memorial Scholarship – Provided by donations memorializing all of the devoted School Sisters of St. Francis who staffed St. Rose School from 1911-2007.
Sister Veronica and Sister Helen Memorial Scholarship – Memorializing Sister Veronica Wolff, SSSF, and Sister Helen Albrecht, SSSF, former St. Rose School teachers and principals.
Fr. Dan Galas Memorial Scholarship – Honoring Fr. Galas who served our parish and school in the late 1960’s as associate pastor and 1971-1976 as our parish priest. Fr. Galas passed away in September 2008.
Fr. Tim Lange Honorary Scholarship – Honoring Fr. Tim Lange – a native son – and our parish priest from 1976-1986. Fr. Tim has been very generous to our parish over the years and we have founded this scholarship as a way to say “thanks.”
St. Rose School Graduate Scholarship – This scholarship goes to a Crofton High School graduating senior who graduated from the 8th grade at St. Rose School. It is provided by donations.
You are free to establish a new memorial scholarship in memory of a loved one or favorite teacher or mentor. 388-4393.
School Fundraisers - Did you know that St. Rose School is quite self-sufficient, raising enough funding annually through tuition and classroom fees and school fundraisers to take care of most school expenses besides salaries? So we encourage you to please “pitch in” for school fundraisers whenever you get a chance. Some of the fundraisers include:
1) Collecting Shurfine and Campbells Soup labels and others
2) Collecting empty printer ink cartridges
3) School raffle each April – Always need donations of prize items and also folks to purchase tickets.
4) Purchasing school T-shirts, bumper stickers, water bottles, caps or stocking hats at the school office.
5) School Golf Tournament – The four-person best ball tournament is held annually on third Sunday in September at beautiful Lakeview Golf Course. Contact the school office 388-4393.
6) Schoolpop.com – Over 500 vendors pay our school a small percentage of all sales made in its name. Go to their website for more information on how to register.
7) Memorial Bricks – Our school will soon be selling memorial bricks to pave a plaza area near the entrance of our lower grade school building. Contact John Van Heek for information.
Parish Fundraisers and Support - St. Rose parish supports St. Rose School and has done so since 1911. Contributing, volunteering for and participating in parish fundraisers ultimately also supports St. Rose School. Be sure to “pitch in” for the fall parish bazaar, Lenten Fish Fry, Unity Supper, Raffles, 100 Club, God’s Acre/God’s Workday and other fundraisers and campaigns for the parish. Good parish stewardship benefits the school, because a financially healthy parish is better able to fully administer to the needs of a Catholic School. Regular Sunday support is the true key to the long-term viability of the school. Even a few dollars each Sunday helps. Please, use those envelopes.
God’s Acre/God’s Workday – This historic program from the 1940s has been resurrected, with a special parish envelope set aside on Thanksgiving Day for contributions from farmers who donate proceeds from an acre of land or for business owners or laborers to contribute proceeds from a day of work in the same fashion.
St. Rose School Boosters – Grandparents Club – Unity Supper Committee -
The Boosters were founded in 2002 to fundraise for the school, to recruit students to attend St. Rose and to support the faculty and staff in expanding the educational and spiritual environment of our students. So far, we represent around 225 families and nearly 800 individuals, all who believe in the sacred mission of St. Rose School. The new Grandparents Club is a branch of the Boosters, supporting the school through their special mission. The Boosters also coordinate the annual Unity Supper set for February 14, 2009, with assistance from the School Board, Parish Council and Finance Committee, and help promote the new Century Club and God’s Acre.
St. Rose School Centennial – July 2-3, 2011
St. Rose School is getting set to celebrate 100 years of Catholic education in Crofton over Independence Day weekend in 2011. We kicked things off with a school open house during the parish centennial in June 2008. Now we are planning pre-centennial activities as we prepare for our school’s big birthday party. Activities will be coordinated with the Crofton Alumni Association events. So far, we have a special centennial Mass planned for Sunday, July 3, 2011, with our Archbishop as celebrant. If you’d like to help plan for the school centennial, call Curt Arens at 388-4798.
Stewardship Message 2008 – by Fr. Mike
Stewardship is not just about writing a check once in a while to keep the church’s budget balanced; it is a way of living, a life of total accountability and responsibility acknowledging God as Creator and Owner of all things. Stewards, as disciples of Jesus Christ, see themselves as caretakers of all of God’s gifts. Gratitude for these gifts is expressed in prayer, worship, offering and action by eagerly sharing these gifts out of love for God and one another. Stewardship is living out a commitment to be Christ-centered rather than self-centered.
We focus on the fact that we have been blessed by God’s gifts that we did not earn and can never repay. In return for these gifts, God asks that we nurture, develop, and share them generously with others.
Prayer is essential to the process of stewardship. We have many spiritual goals. These goals invite us to thank God for His abundant blessings, to worship Him through observance of the Lord’s Day and Eucharistic Adoration, and to pray for God’s blessings on our parish and our Archdiocese.
Presence is a precious gift that we often take for granted. Just being here today makes a powerful statement about your faith and commitment to the Church. You encourage and strengthen others by your witness to the power of Christ’s presence in our lives and recommit to be His disciples in every aspect of our daily activities.
Reflect on God’s blessings in your life. What gifts has God given to you specifically and how can you use them for His glory and the benefit of others? How can you be more present to God and to the Church and participate more fully in the mission of your parish and the Archdiocese?
As part of our annual renewal of stewardship in our parish, we will be asking you to make commitments of prayer, presence and participation. We will also ask for your financial support for our parish and the Archdiocese. Remember, however, that stewardship is an entire way of life based on our recognition of God’s goodness to us – and our need to share God’s blessing with others. May God bless you and your parish families for your kindness.
