Programs Promote Values

Two recent programs at St. Rose School offered our students opportunities to learn and explore character development and values.
ABRAHAM LINCOLN CELEBRATES HIS BIRTHDAY WITH ST. ROSE STUDENTS – Spencer Davis, an historian at Peru State College, entertained and informed students about the real life and experiences of our 16th President, on the eve of the bicentennial of Lincoln’s birth on Feb. 12. Costumed in complete Lincoln garb, Davis discussed with students about Lincoln’s childhood and adult life, the challenges he faced and the fortitude he employed throughout his life. This program was supported in part by a Nebraska Humanities Council grant and served as the spring session of St. Rose School’s ongoing “Nebraska Legends” presentation series, promoting a greater knowledge of history and humanities among our students. Students from Crofton Community Schools joined us for the presentation.
ELTON ROKUSEK DISCUSSES THE HARMFUL EFFECTS OF BULLYING
Mr. Rokusek has experienced bullying the hard way – first hand. He conveyed to St. Rose students the destructive nature of bullying and how much it hurts others. He talked about how he dealt with relentless bullying in his life as a student and even as an adult – and how harmful the act of bullying can be. Our students learned from Elton how important it is to love each other.

Coming Up this Spring – National History Day, Modern Woodmen Speech Contest, Boys and Girls Track, class field trips and 8th Grade Lincoln Citizenship Trip, to name a few.

Tuition at St. Rose School is a Real Value – Our tuition rates are among the lowest of any parochial school in Nebraska. We also have numerous programs in place to assist families in paying for a quality, Catholic education at St. Rose School.

  1. Tuition Assistance Programs – Families who need additional assistance with tuition can discuss specialized payment plans with Mr. Becker. The school has the ability to assist families in paying for tuition, but the family must contact the Head Teacher. We have never turned a student away because of an inability to pay. Register your student, and we’ll figure out the tuition plan that suits the family.
  2. Children’s Scholarship Fund (Administered by Archdiocese of Omaha, based on income level, apply by Apr. 20, forms available through school office) We have several families who have assistance from this program each year, so please apply.
  3. School Scholarships – All of the school scholarships are offered by random drawing and range from $50 to $250. Drawings generally are conducted during Catholic Schools Week. This year over $750 in scholarships were awarded to nine students.

St. Rose School Centennial Committee is Forming – Alumni, family and friends of our school are planning now for our school centennial celebration on July 2-3, 2011. Call Curt Arens if you’d like to help out – 388-4798. Details will be coming about our first committee meeting.
